help..gettin error while uninstalling antivirus!!!

My Norton antivirus 2003 validation time is over and it is not functioning anymore. So i wanted to uninstall it and install another antivirus s/w(Since we cannot have both at a time). But when i am trying to uninstall i am getting the following error.
Fatal Error: Installation ended prematurely due to error.
I don have any antivirus workin now...so please help me!!!

Someone who has/had Norton will know the answer. Meanwhile, you can safely install another Antivirus software as Norton is already not functioning and will not interfere with any other.

EDIT: Here it goes, I found a site where it's explained how to uninstall Norton 2003. It requires Norton Removal tool. Read it all here.
