Help Getting PC Running

Hi everyone. First post and needing help. The PC overheated so bad it would only stay on for a few seconds and then shut off. So I got the cooling fixed and the temps showing in the bios are good. But now when booting into Windows XP, the start up screen just keeps showing the bar going across the screen and nothing else happens. What now? The PC has a Q6600 processor and P5NSLi motherboard. Hope you can help me get it running.

Possibly.. just possibly because of the overheat issue, your hdd was corrupted a little and you may want to pop in your windows disk and try a windows repair, if that doesnt work, you may just want to reformat/reinstall windows altogether. Give that a shot and report back.
