I have a satellite p205-s6347. I have just recovering my laptop with the recovering disc. Besides, I have changed two 2GB ram indeed of two 1 GB which came with it.
Now It only recognizes 3GB, why? My computer is having window vista home premium, 32bit. It should be able to read it right?
Also, sometime when i turn it on, it will pop up a blue screen ( dumping physical memory...........) . What is going on? I really need help. Thanks a lot

You need to format your 32-bit copy of Vista and then install a 64-bit Vista so that you can 'see' and use more than 3.5GB of RAM. That's probably why you're getting the blue screens and only Windows is only detecting 3GB.

Even though a 32-bit OS won't be able to address all 4GB of RAM, Vista (even the 32-bit version) will display the full installed amount of RAM. In any event, having more memory installed than the OS can address doesn't cause bluescreens, something else is up with the system.

Anyway, I would run memtest or a similar program to see if one of the sticks is faulty (or just run it with only one stick in at a time and see if the problem remains). If both of the sticks turn out fine but don't work together, I would assume that the laptop simply can't handle that much RAM (though quick google search suggests that it does indeed support up to 4GB). What exact error are you getting (do you remember the bluescreen message)? It could be just a plain driver issue too.

I have a Toshiba Satelite P105-S6134 which claim support 4gb Ram Max, But when I install 2x2gb ram in there, it only recognize 3gb as well. Windows 7 64bit say 4gb installed 2.99gb usable. I think that line of the product have some issues.
Cheers.
