Help. How do i reload windows?

Hey everyone.
im not to good with all the technical laungague you guys use and everything.
But i have an old computer and i want to erase everything off and reload the windows onto it. It is a windows 2000 ME And i was wondering if i could reload the software back onto it. Also would i be able to putwindows xp on it?
Im pretty sure i have the software disks for both i justr gotta find them. thanks.
 
If you have the Windows ME CD and you have a floppy drive, you have it made!
If you dont have a floppy ME boot disk, go to www.bootdisk.com and down load a ME boot disk. If you have a clean freshly formated 3 1/2 floppy you can make a boot disk!
When you make the boot disk just leave the boot disk in the drive and place your windows ME cd in the cd drive. Restart your system and it will boot to the floppy and when it finishes booting you will see the A:\prompt Now key in format C:Depending on the size of the hard this could take some timeThere will be a warning pop up that states that all data on the drive will be destoyed and if you want to continue.

When formating is complete it will ask you if you want to name the drive, you dont have to if you dont want to.

Reboot, your CD will wind up being probaly E:\ drive, key in E: and press the enter key and when the E:\ prompmt appears key insetupand follow directionsyou will need your serial number so have it handy

If you have the WinME CD, you don't need a boot disk.

Yes, you can upgrade to XP via ME. But, before you do that...what kind of XP CD do you have--Full Version or Upgrade? If you have the Full Version, why not just load that from the get-go? If you have the Upgrade, you still don't need WinME pre-installed, you just need the WinME CD.

Post up if you need to know how to do a new install of XP using the Upgrade CD.
 
well. I cant find my xp disk. i found the me disk.
I dont want to restore it just yet untill i get all my pictures off of it.
My goal was to hook the ethernet to the old one and uplad the picture i wanted to picturetrail. But i ran into a problem when i hooked up the ethernet to it i cant get on the internet. If i opn ie6 it says theres an error with unknown and it closes. So i use netscape. It says it cant find the webpage make sure you typed it correct and everything. What is my problem and how can i fix it thanks...
