Hey guys i was wondering if someone could explain why these are different and what cpu i could upgrade to preferably a dual core. i dont understand why it says 5000 mhz because it is supposed to be a 2.8 ghz single core. btw the bits with the ** are the parts i need help to understand.
Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

The fx57 is a 2.8 ghz single core processor. Can't explain the 5000mhz but it has a 2000mhz hyper transport. You don't have it overclocked do you?

Unfortunately, the 939 socket is dead. You may not find a dual core 939 cpu. You would need an athlon 64 x2 series. However, I would suggest you save up money if need be and buy an updated system, either am3 or am3+.

I had an FX-62 processor that was awesome for the time I had it. It is the dual-core version of the FX-57. Same core speed at 2.8ghz. Still have the processor, but I need it for now in case I need to use it to update the BIOS on a motherboard to accept my Phenom ii X4 940.

Thanks for the help guys. hmm idk about sticking to amd i might go for a change.
i might splurge and get a sabertooth z77 MB and just go from there, which would be cheaper the am3, am3+ or the sabertooth ?

i wish it was overclocked, i have tried but after i did my pc wouldnt even open the program like it had blocked it by itself. (as ridiculos as that sounds)

When overclocking, you don't want to make any huge jumps. take it in small increments. Is the multiplier unlocked? If so you'll have the multiplier and the FSB to play with; along with the CPU voltage. Uping the CPU voltage will cause more heat. After a certain point, then you start having to mess around with memory timings and the DDR voltage. There is an art to overclocking and you can probably do a google search for the maximum overclock on air for an FX-57 and maybe even come across the settings. Then use those settings as your maximum. Do not just jump to those settings. Slowly bring the settings up testing each step of the way. Every CPU is different on overclocking. You probably won't reach that maximum yourself.

You can still find PLENTY of 939 processors on ebay in the $40 or less range. Much cheaper than building a new system. I wouldnt say 939 is "dead", it certainly cant keep up with the big boys today but there are still good 939 processors out there that will get the job done for the cost.

Socket 939 is pretty much dead, think AMD stopped making them almost like 7 years ago. Just because they sell them on Ebay doesnt mean they are not dead. Plus he said he was thinking of going with a new Intel or AMD.

Well, dead in the sense that they are no longer produced. But I mean they are still alive in the sense that the platform still makes for a decent mid range gaming rig. Especially for the cost.
