I bought a £630 desktop from PC world, i was gonna buy a gaming pc from Dino pc. But i looked at the specs for this £630 desktop and i thought WOW THATS A BARGAIN Little did i know that a Nvidia GT 530 was a multimedia card. i thought it was part of the new high end 500 series that nvidia released...(I should of done my research :/ ) Since i've just bought it i'm not allowed to get a new card yet.. though round about Xmas is when i'm going to buy a new one. I'm definatly looking at the 450 GTS and 9800GT along with the Famous Ati radeon 5770.

Which card which is £75-£125 do you think is the best for me to get? I'm hoping to play games like Shogun 2 total war on 50fps on ultra.

My tests atm are allright, this is why i'm hanging on to this card for a while.

The Sims Medieval - Ultra, No AA, 1900x1080 - 40fps

The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion - Ultra, HDR, No AA, 1900x1080, in cities - 50-60fps - In the open world, 30fps

Company of Heroes Anthology - Ultra, No AA, 1900x1080 - 25fps

When i put AA on, they all drop to about 10fps.

Main Specs of the Comp

Intel i5 Quad, 2.9Gz
8 Gig ram (A little overkill, 4 gig is plenty tbh.. )
1Gig Nvidia Geforce 530
1.5TB HDD
Windows 7 64bit Premium.

SO, any help?

Hiya mate first thing first is to have a look at your PSU, i presume it wont be great so may need to be replaced.

Next up in either scenario (replace or not) is the gpu.

If your looking at the 5770 how much have you seen it for as im currently looking for a gpu and have found the 5830 for only £87, if you have a look at my recent thred "is this a good deal" theres a link in there.

that leaves you with £30-40 for a psu, but if you can add a couple more quid you can get something decent to power it.

Judging by the fact the pc is from pc world im failry certain the psu will need replacing. Do you have a link to the actual computer?

EDIT: By the way if your psu doesnt need replacing ( a more experianced member will tell you wether it does or not) you can get a gtx 460 of scan for £130 which will be better than the 5830 and the cards you suggested.

Ok, iv had a look online but cant find the power supply, a member should be along soon enough to tell you how to find out what it is, im no going to suggest having a look as i dont have the foggiest about power supplies tbh.

can't see the psu but I've never heard of a good one in a stock oem computer, just a cheapy crappy brand, you'll need to find, sorry but idk what sites to use there other than overclockers.co.uk, but their cheapest good ones ar like 58, so check like ebay for a corsair/antec/xfx/silverstone/seasonic/pc power and cooling brand psus with around 550-600w for those cards.
