OK, things just keep going from bad to worse. I am having major, but weird issues with internet stuff. Here are some of the symptoms and some of the things I've tried:
Can not edit the pages on my website (website through microsoft office live) -- however, I can do so from another computer (at my neighbor's -- using same ISP).
I can request a map on mapquest but it doesn't display (although it thinks it does)
My ISP is AT&T and they use Yahoo! as their email. If I try to access email through AT&T-Yahoo, some emails open just fine, other emails take forever to open, and others actually lock internet explorer and I have to end ie by using task manager (and even then it takes multiple attempts).
Sometimes internet explorer just locks up.
This all seemed to start several months ago, but I can't remember anything that changed at that time. It started just taking longer than expected to open emails and has gotten worse from there (has also gotten worse each time AT&T tried to "help" me.)
Things I have tried that have not helped:
Updated JAVA to latest version
Reinstalled IE 7.0
Went back to IE 6.0
Installed Mozilla Firefox and tried that
Reduced all the security levels to below default, disabled anti-phishing, disabled pop-up blocker (currently now set back to default)
disabled IE add-ons
AT&T had me go into advanced internet options and change some things but it didn't help.
I use SpySweeper anti-virus and anti-spyware religiously.
I have also run AT&T supplied anti-spyware (don't know who makes it)
I did set up Outlook and have it set up to get the Yahoo emails. This works fine, however I have yet to figure out how to have it use my alternate email addresses (i.e. I have email addresses that I use for different purposes, outlook always assumes that I want to use my sbcglobal.net email).
My System:
Windows XP Service Pack 2 (fully updated to latest versions)
Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13
Java Plug-In 1.6.0_05
AT&T DSL
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.
Jane
