HELP!! internet connection

My dad's friend wired my place that i'm living in now, so that i have a split cable and phone line over here. So because he did all that, he also set my internet up for my wireless laptop. He, for some reason, created a password for me and he doesn't remember it lol. Do I have to call the router's company and ask them how to reset my password or can you guys help me out?
 
try entering a default password or the one you were giving to you when you first signed up with your ISP.
It might work.
If you have a free software app which manages your wireless adapters, router and connection. the software has a 50% chance of displaying your password.
thats what mine does.
 
Well i had a pain in the arse time trying to figure out the password, and got NOWHERE!!
W/e my iPod isn't working anyway!! :(
 
I know that puts the router into admin mode for Linksys, I don't know what it does for other models. If you do that to a Linksys, you need to load new firmware or when you remove admin mode the password is still on it.

If you can post the brand or model number of your router (it will say on it who makes it and the model) then someone can look up the passowrd resetting options.
 
haha that creeped me out for a second. Mine is a linksys. And the technician took over my computer by remote but found out that he can't do anything because my main router is d-link. so which one would i reset? let me explain a little more. I live in a detached garage that was made into a room. It's really nice actually. It's probably bigger than some apartments... dorms definitely. Anyway, so my parents have a comcast modem and d-link router for their computers. They split the phone wire and ran it underground to my place so i can have my own phone line and router. So that's basically it.

I have a d link too, theres a reset button....will be something like this; http://images.tigerdirect.com/SkuImages/gallery/large/D-Link-DIR-615-D700-2328-d.JPG see where it says "reset" use a paperclip to push it in for like 20 seconds
 
Yeah, that's about all you need to do. Just hold that reset button in for 30 seconds and then try to log into the admin pages (default address is 192.168.1.1) and use username: admin password: admin
