Thanks for your time I bought a new asus eee pc 1005hab with wi-fi 802.11n and i am having problems with the internet(firefox or explorer both newest updates) it took me I timed it 11 MIN to get to the new thread screen wow. I have cox service works great on every other computer (dell, toshiba, dell acer) in the house and ipod but this one so obviously it is not the provider. Here is the problem when I open firefox or explorer usually it says "Server not found" or "the connection was reset" then when i go to refresh or go home it says "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier." then have to click send or cancel. Some times the net works great super fast but most the time this is what I get. Did I buy a pile? best buy wont return it terrible service I would even upgrade but no. Asus had me do their thing just a waist of time. Could it be security? What should I do?

If its brand new, take it back. You shouldn't be having wireless problems right out of the box.

I tried to take it back it is out of the 30 day return policy at best buy I even would have upgraded they didn't care. shows best buy cares more about money then customer service.

Have you checked the connection settings for this particular computer against the others? Yes you should also consider security too.

Can you post the address, the house sounds like it's worth breaking into!

the setting all check out. right now it is working perfect no problems I am wondering why the internet is so patchy.
Ha good luck!

oh and the trend micro is what i am using for security should I upgrade?
I brought it back to best buy 25 days into it they played with it doing nothing they said keep it a week and see if this continues so I brought it back at the 30 day mark to return it turns out 30 days is too long for the 30 day return policy?

You need to go back and complain and tell them exactly what happened. Tell them you brought it and they checked it out at 25 days and couldn't find anything wrong. Then you brought it back again saying it was still doing it. As long as your original complaint is within the 30 days and it wasn't fixed then you have a leg to stand on I think. Demand to speak to a manager.

It did not go through the system. Should have thought of that. They took it in the geek squad room had it for 20 min and said everything checks out they couldn't duplicate the problem. Think I screwed myself

You may have... If the wireless starts acting goofy again then try uninstalling the device through device manager, reboot and let windows reinstall the driver. Or perhaps there is a new driver available for it.

If you are using Trend Micro I would quick remove this worthless and intrusive program. ASUS is in with them thats why it is installed on their computers.
I know for a fact it caused me many problems, as it will block a lot of sites that you try top access. Get riid of it, it might take a few try to remove it as it does not like being removed.
I do not feel the problem is with the ASUS laptop it is with Trend Micro getting involved with your searching.
Have you checked your router setup on this laptop to see if it is correct? If your other devices are working I would suspect it is with either Trend Micro or how your router is setup.

I don't know anything about this agreement between Trend Micro and ASUS so pardon my ignorance. I certainly don't think there's some plot to stop the user doing all surfing. Is this a conspiracy theory? Presumably disabling any such service should show if it's the problem in a few seconds.

I've experienced similar problems to Houseworth_t simply because my ISP's "official" DNS server was continually crapping out. I changed to another server and my connection's fine. I would double-check the connection settings first against the other PCs that work OK. Houseworth_t said they were fine in response to my earlier comment. I'm not the person to advise on that.

Have you tried entering a known IP address rather than a URL in your browser? For example, 209.85.225.104 should get you the Google Search page, 207.46.170.10 is Microsoft. Some addresses will get you to the site but with some sort of error message due to the site having shared hosting. This can show if the DNS is the issue.

I agree with you on the micro trend comment I just feel like I should upgrade. I entered the IP address you mentioned and they worked fine. As for checking the connection settings I am pretty sure how check them but maybe not the best way what would you recommend checking them?

Changing to something other than Trend Micro is fine. At least you have something in place. As I stated, I'm not the person to help with your settings. Anyone?
