Help - loading windows xp to Laptop

Hi,

I have hust bought a secondhand laptop - toshiba tecra 8100. I have windows XP on CD. I have inserted the disk into the cd drive and started up the machine.
I get through the initial stages and format the hard drive.
The during the file coping it stops saying cannot locate file name winipsec.dll you can then either press enter to try again, or esc to carryon withou the file. Then when you reach the end and restart the machine comes up with fatal error??

Would this be down to a scratch on the disc so that it cannot see the file listed above

That file is a core OS file... cant really ignore that

That would seem most likely
