Help me build a 1000$ gaming computer with a few restrictions

Hey everyone,

I'm on the lookout for a new gaming computer that respects the following criterias:

- The computer needs to be assembled from the list of this store: https://www.pcczone.com/pc-builder?subid=1

- Max budget = 1000$ before taxes

- I won't be going for a Seagate HD (I passed through 3 of 'em in the last 7 months... did read about a firmware problem?)

- The computer has to be able to run the newest games on highest settings

- Quality / Reliability is important

- Possibility for future upgrades is a plus


For those wondering why I need to buy from that place, well it has to do with government subvention (student here) as long as I buy from local merchant.

Seagate 7200.11 drives had firmware issues. 7200.12 moseld seem to be ok, though they don't perform as well as the equivalent Samsung/WD models.

What's the tax rate on this?

Taxe rate is 12,5%. However, since I'm asking 1000$ before taxes, you can just add the component prices without having to account those taxes.

if you want high setting gaming you need a highend GPU, no escape.
you can see yourself where you could save a little but nothing I did brought it down to 1000$. especially that seems worth it to me.
Motherboard gives you good future proofing with USB 3, sata3, 140w cpu comatibility, memory speed up to 1866mhz and ATI CF compatibility with two x16 slots. I put in a nividia card because as a single it's the best option there but if you plan on CF you could swap it for a HD 5xxx and add another later.

Looks pretty solid Matthew, however a tad overbudget (trying to fit under 1000$). Also, will I need a cooling unit to make sure everything is secure?

Hi, Unless you plan to overclock the stock cooling should be just fine. for a few bucks you could easily add some case fans. you can save on the video card but you won't be able to play on full high settings like you wanted. you will at medium no prob. the advantage is that you could later add another identical card and operate them in Crossfire mode to boost performance. I would add a little for a 700W psu if you plan on adding another GPU in the future but it's not a must. BTW this store is a little pricy.
