So I have decided to build an AMD X2 (AM2) build for the following reasons-
-I will save some money with the 3800+ and the motherboard I want as compared to the same features of the conroe one.
-I like AMD, I am practically a fanboy, lol....
-For what I do getting a E6300 instead of a 3800+ will not make a difference that much for what I do (dvd burning/encoding, multitasking) I do not really game much.

So thats that, I know people will tell me to get the conroe, as I have told other people numerous times on this forum, but for what I do there will not be that big of a difference.

Here's what I got-

I want that mobo because of the wireless, firewire, and its a loaded ASUS.

3800+ X2 AM2 socket

the rest-
RAM- I have no idea, looking to buy 1GB at first, then buy another gig later, probably corsair, recommend me some that I can buy a gig at a time please
$250^^ (around 125 a gig)

GPU- I really do not know, do not do much gaming, but if I want to play games on shockwave or miniclip, I do not want lagging. I want to run google earth at a decent clip, I will also be buying a TV tuner later, and want the pic quality to be good
about $150 maybe a little more, it needs DVI and D-SUB

HD, DVD, case, and all the accessories I can take care of myself

Um, well pretty much what you described is perfect for what Intel's are good for. The generally accepted rule is: AMD=better for gaming, Intel=better for multitasking. Since you don't game much, and do more multitasking, etc, an Intel, even if not a Conroe, would be better for your needs.

But whatever, if you want to go AMD, it's your choice....

As far as I know intel core 2 duo is better than AMD in both gaming and multitasking

Well yeah, but before the Core 2 Duo, Intel was better for multitasking, and AMD was better for gaming. Even still, the higher-end models of the X2 line from AMD, in the same price range as the Core 2 Duo, and perform similarly in games.

yes yes I know all about the conroe

I am not saying that X2 is better, I am saying that for what I do, I do not really need a conroe, because an X2 will do what I need it to fast anyways, and I would save money by going AMD.

anyways

that video card would handle watching TV fine?

also the intel wireless mobo for ASUS is like $250
while $190 for the AMD mobo

so I would save like $75 by going with the company that I prefer, and the product that will suit my needs and meet my expectations perfectly
