Help Me choose MEMORY please,

Once you decide on how much memory you want to see go in take notes on the product number for some of the better brands there and do some price shopping. Gigabyte lists the memory that will work by product number there. If any match up at newegg then you know newegg is listing the average or max voltage and not the lowest.

With just a quick entry in the search window you can find several links with that brand name like the $113.96 2gb kit of DDR2 800 seen at http://www.memoryc.com/computermemory/ddr2ram/2gbcellshockpc26400cl4kit.html

The only brand seen on the recommended list at Gigabyte that sees complaints is GEIL while the rest like Kingston, Crucial, Corsair, and others are well known. I would refer to the list first and look for the best deal when you see one at newegg or another vendor just to make sure it's a known brand and not a generic.

somone told me to stay away from 2.3v or higher, and to try to stay around 2.1,2.2 not much memory does that or it is very expensive. the ddr 1200, memory from patriot is 2.3 v so that would not work right?????? can you go safely 2.3 v if not oc'ing??

is there one on the list you recommend??????? if i can do 8 gbs, that is what i would like to do, some on the list recommend 512, but not stated if 1,2 gbs are also recommended or not recomended..... what do you think?

Patriot is more recent then brands like PNY, Crucial, Corsair, and some others. Vendors like newegg and TigerDirect only more recently started carrying it as well as a few others. Knothead

With that answer. You know nothing. Newegg has carried Patriot for a long time, plus you think that its a new brand just because a certain vender starts carring it.Thats the best you can come up with. Close to one of the most unintelligent answers you have ever gave, and thats not saying much. You have to be a bot!

The best thing you can do luckyboomstick is not listen to anything this nimrod tells you!

I,ve installed all kinds of Gigabytes boards and the 1.8 votage for memory is the lowest voltage the board will go down to. The best thing to do is pick out what speed you want, then find the best timming and lowest voltage in the price range you want to spend. You will be fine.

Anything over 4gbs is overkill. That Gigabyte list is just Ram they have tested. Gigabye is one of the most Memory compatible boards out there. Even with OCZ memory, which gives alot of boards a hard time.

here are 3,,,,, it is one or the other....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166

above is 2.0-2.1v.... @1066,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220233

above is 2.3v @ 1150

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220241

above is 2.3 @ 1200

which would you recommend??? would i see a diffrence from 1066 to 1200? is the 1066 going to work better than the 1200? would the 1066 be a safer bet due to burn out than the 1200.... ????

i am not going to oc, want a good and safe buy, with the biggest performance for the $$$ by the way-------thanks for your expertise,,, realy really appreciate it.

Free Shipping plus 4 gbs. Between those I would go for the G Skill. I just sold a Phenom 9850 System with 2gbs of the same memory a few days ago.

will there be a big diffrence between g-skill @1066 vs patriot @1150? the g skill are cheaper and i keep 2 open as you recommended...... thanks again for the input.

By looking at the number and type of memory for one brand you can generally find the larger dimm size at a vendor of the same type. On the present build here I run a pair of 1gb Kingston Hyper X performance dimms. to increase the amount of memory I could either add another pair of the same or replace those with a pair of 2gb Hyper X dimms of the same speed.

Despite the rambling noise by someone else when running a strictly stock system generally you go for things like the fastest memory supported as well as the faster model cpus since there won't be any ocing. The 2.3v dimms are performance memory cranked up for gaming builds where you would likely need memory coolers since those will run a bit warmer.

But the first thing to remember to look at there is the user manual or take a trip into the bios itself to see what voltage settings can be selected. That way you know where you are and what memory will work once you are shopping at a vendor.

ok, so i could use 2.3 patriots @1200 since the mobo is rated for 1200------ i don't have mobo yet === getting ready to put a critique together tonight/tomorrow and buy over weekend for next week build...

strangle hold,,, have u seen the new nzxt tempest???? newest one from them similiar to antec 900.... my old computer had a nzxt blackline------ they seem to make good cases, however this time i am going with a thermaltake....

think i will do the g-skill ones u recommended stranglehold....... thanks--- keep an eye out next couple of days/ maybe tonight--- would like you to give me critique on this build........ thanks for your help,,,, really.
