thats good. hmm dual cpu each with dual core, not bad. i guess if you really want a lot of cpu processing power. personally i'd wait for conroe to come out, prices will drop a ton i bet you'll save like $200 maybe...
but i'd get a decent graphics card... maybe an x1600xt? the only reason i suggest this is for avivo... i guess it allows the computer to utilize the gpu for regular apps.

Before going after that generic high priced Socket 940 board you may want to review some information on Gigabyte and Asus models and evaluations. http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=1936
I'm currently looking at the AMD Opteron 185 Socket 939 model for the next build where video capturing/editing as well as graphics intense apps even a few of those newer games are run regularly. But for S940 boards these two brands are the current leaders at this time. For the latest choice between video cards you could go with either the ATI Radeon X1900 XTX or NVidia's 7900 GS models at the higher price tag currently seen. For memory you could easily go with Kingston, Corsair, Crucial, and especially OCZ for premium there. The cpu alone isn't the only thing that will slow down graphics acceleration. Custom building a good high end performance will cost a little more where several items will probably need to hand picked to be the best suited for your needs.

if its from intel, then how can AMD price go down???
Because AMD is going to need to cut prices to remain competitive and profitable in the market as Intel is going to be the leader in performance for a while.

lol yea... if conroe is good and cheap, and since we know it performs better than athlon 64... then athlon 64 will have to be at a lower price for people to want to buy it. :D
