ok so decision time... my dad is about to send me some money.. probably not that much but i need to work out what to put it towards...

option 1. i would like to get myself a laptop because it would be useful for college and just useful to have around and yeah it would be about $350.

option 2. i would like to keep upgrading my system. ie: new cpu (E8200) and ram also about AU$350
(2gb corsair xms2)


usually i would just want to upgrade my system and make it much better... but i really do want a laptop. wireless internet... and for college then i dont have to log in on random computers.. i can have it set up how i like. and would be pretty cool :)

we only get 700mb space on college computers to use. so yeah if i had a laptop it would be much better... as you can tell i am wanting a laptop but would it be the best idea? i would probably use my pc more often...

anyway thanks guys... please vote and tell me what you think... and if you have better ideas.

also anyone from australia know anywhere online that sells good second hand laptops?

Haha i only get 200mb :( you should buy some more ram first then spend the rest on a laptop. cos u need it to play cod4 awesomely :D the ram i mean lol.

Thats a hard decision there you got there kuzba....I reckon if you can max out COD4 (or nearly)and get reasonable frames you should go for the laptop but other wise the PC parts!

Here's a cheap second hand laptop! No Optical drive I think though.

One last thing...college at 16!!:eek:

yeah good link for that laptop.

except... with my IT course we get in laptops and fix them up and sell them to students.. and those dell d400's are what were using haha. so even though thats 20 bucks cheaper... at school ill be able to loook through and find the best one. and it will come with 1 gig or ram instead of 512 and a free wireless internet card :D so yeah. thanks tho :)
 
oh and as well, dell laptops come with pre-installed dell stuff dont they? but you could just reformat them and start fresh with your own copy of xp couldnt you? or will it keep the dell stuff? this sounds stupid. but yeah :D
 
Some of the second hand ones might not come with the dell things but yeah I guess you could install your own stuff. It might keep a partition that has the dell stuff on it though....

17 is still early for college I reckon. I might not go till I'm 19. Have a gap year to relax, or maybe even only go to college a couple of days a week. Something like that, long way off for me yet still.
 
do you have any idea how bludge college is? hahaha

with the subjects ive chosen im doing less then half the time i did in highschool. trust me dont wait a year. thats just stupid. maybe wait a year before university

but what am i gonna sell to get more money?

my skateboard is probably worth a bit haha.

Less than half that's a fair bit. But I suppose tons of stuff could happen in four or five years time. See what happens then.

Anyway I'm feeling a bit tired, school has that effect on me. So I'll go to bed now.Go for the laptop!;)
 
It may depend on how old it is... I think the newer 1s have the shit on a partition... maybe..

older 1's are on disks no? Maybe, anyway get the laptop...

P.s Im not on MSN atm Cause My pc has not come in yet.. So im not snobin ya!

im unsure about this tho. cos ill get getting one with a 1.5/1.6 ghz pentium m.

and that seems pretty slow.

i hope i dont have lots of dell stuff. well ill find out first. :D

You can uninstall all that stuff. If you reformat, make sure you download all the drivers for the laptop and reinstall. BTW, I voted for the laptop idea. Seems like it will really help you with your studies. :)
 
i have no idea how i will get the money though. best case my dad will send me $200. i still have to come up with 150...

skateboard for 90. electric guitar for 90. should have it :D but not sure if they will sell
 
haha i never never play the guitar. cos my amp is broke... and i just dont haha.

im just worried that a pentium M 1.6 ghz is jus gonna be too slow... what do you guys think?
