Help me compare this built one to a homemade one

I have been looking around and asking a few questions on this forum for a few months now and I really need to get a computer soon. On the one hand, I have always bought computers and never had any issues, but if you read on here, it seems like all premade ones are garbage. So here is what I came across. I went on newegg and just tried to piece together a similar system (since I don't know what motherboard they use, I just came up with a lower priced one) and my system totalled $1050. Is it going to really be that much better if I build this rather than buy one? What do you do if something goes wrong with your home made one, where the other has the 2 year warranty? I am not afraid to build, and have had experience upgrading memory, video cards, etc. I just want to really make sure this is worth the time since I am not saving any money.

Now granted, if I were to build, I would not get these exact components. I would probably upgrade a few of these, but again this is just to compare the price.
 
I would totally build one if I were you!

Like yourself I spent years upgrading to a new 'shop' PC until I put together my own. When you buy from the shop you are paying for a case, PSU ect that you might not neccessarily need to change if you make your own and upgrade over time. From then on you will just upgrade parts as you see fit, and can keep the parts that are still good (eg a good case will last you many builds). Also the prebuilt shop systems come with lots of 'unwanted' software ect that can slow the system down from its true hardware potential Ive noticed (you can disable them, I know, but still) I only wish id built one sooner! As to whether something can go wrong, its always a possibility, but I built my first PC with no experience, and after doing a little research and reading a few internet guides I did fine, in fact it was fun! Well thats my opinion anyways Ill leave the comparing business to some of the more experienced guys on here who know the hardware better. And you got the forum here if you do have questions doing a build :)

The difference is in the quality of the individaul components.
x16 instead of 22 or 24.
Probly some kind of value rated, perhaps proprietary ram.
Even if the ps was a good one,(and more than likely isn't) there's not much you can do graphically, or in the way of games/upgrades w/300w.
The gpu is pretty much nothing.
And yeah, the MB is bound to be proprietary as well,,limiting upgrades w/1-x16 and probly not much else in the way of cpu's supported.
Where's the money going? Not inside the case unless you build it yourself.
