Help me configure my RAM?

Soo, I'm attempting to get my RAM to run at its rated settings (link), but every time I try, I get a message saying it failed to boot due to overclocking. I'm not entirely sure I'm doing everything right.

What I've tried is to simply set it to the settings on that page. 7-8-7-24, 1600MHz, 1.65V...no success. I wouldn't mind if it was a bit slower, but the auto settings are 11-11-11-27/1333/1.5V. What have I done wrong?

edit: title fail...

anyway, the HT is running at 2000MHz. It should be 4000, right? Is that the problem?

Fixed the title for you.

2000MHz HT sounds right, it's DDR so effectively 4000MHz.

There are a lot of settings in your DRAM Configuration page, you may have just set the wrong timings. Although, the ones you want do happen to be the first 4 listed. So you want to 'Set Memory Clock' so that your RAM is set to 1600MHz (should be set to 8x). Next switch DDR3 Timing Items to Manual and set CAS# latency to 7, RAS to CAS R/W Delay to 8, Row Precharge Time to 7 and Minimum RAS to 24. On the main M.I.T. Page you'll also have to adjust the DRAM Voltage Control to 1.65V.

If that's what you did before, try just bumping the RAM speed up and see if it boots and continue adjusting 1 timing at a time until you find the one that's preventing you from booting.

Thanks for fixing that, haha.

Should I do the voltage first, then? 1.65v is still within spec, right?

Yeah if you are doing it 1 part at a time you can do the voltage and 1 other part first.

So far so good...booted at 1600MHZ @ 1.65V. Time to start the timings...

Got it to 8-8-7-24, but both 7-8-8-24 and 7-8-7-24 failed to boot. It's rated at 7-8-7...so am I missing something else, or do I have a problem?

You can try uping the voltage a step more and see if 7-8-7 works. It should run at 7-8-7 with what you are giving it now but if you can live with 8-8-7 and don't want to go through the RMA hassle it's not that much of a difference.
