Alright so I FINALLY resolved my issue that I was having with my rig that had 8800GT in SLI. I was unable to get over 6000. Well today I stumbled upon a thread about people having similar problems. Turns out some ASUS bios were turning the HT down to 1x instead of 5x. Well updated BIOS and now I scored a 10k on 3dmark06.

Sooo because of this problem I was gonna switch to a intel system with E8400 and the ASUS P5N-D 750i. But now that my baby is running good I was thinking of just upgrading the CPU to a AMD 6400+ Black Edition 3.2ghz.

or should I stick to my intel plan.

The AMD will cost me $159 and I wont have to buy anything else.

The intel will cost $220 for E8400 and $150 for the 750i motherboard. If I get that kit I can sell my crosshair for $170 make some money back to offset the cost.

Now I was bummed when I was having the low performance issues but now that, thats fixed Im very happy.

another plan is upgrade the AMD cpu and in a few months purchase the intel cpu and motherboard along with another case, psu and use the 2nd graphics card, that way I have 2 gaming PC's.

i am a AMD fan so im gonna say get a 6400+ black EDU it will save u a lot of money an it will hit 4.0GHz but the intel will be better by about 15% but the 6400 will be a great processer still

Your not going to see a big differnce with any AMD settup. I switched from the x2 5600+ to what i have in my sig. About and AMD cpu will cripple a dual card settup. I scored 10k in 3dmark06 with a single 3870 with my x2 5600+. Thats a low score for two 8800GT's. My score went up to 12k with my new rig.

So my point is, if your going to upgrade. Its not worth buying a 6400+, just wait untill you can get something better like at 780i and a E8400.

You will want the 780i, not the 750i. The 750i in sli runs the PCIe lanes at x16/x8. The 780i runs them at the full x16/x16

I think what Im gonna do right now is save my money right now and fix up my room and buy some shoes/clothes and in a few months get the 45nm quad. After playing lastnight with everything fixed I was very happy at the results. On Portal with everything maxed with a 1680x1050 resolution I was getting 200FPS, same with the other half life games. Even tried Team Fortress and was VERY happy.
