* My daughter has an older Compaq for school that does everything that you are looking to do. Just make sure you read independent reviews because HP's DV6000 and DV9000 models had a lot of recalls but that was from 2007-08 and possibly 09 but they have moved on since then.
* Check out Staples, Office Fepot, and Best Buy. Often you can find then for a little less $ but be cautious with BB and some of their practices.

I like the dell inspiron 1545. thats what I use and it now has an i3 cpu!
