hello guys,

i will be doing a lot of video conversions and editing and compression. i do some lite gaming as well. not those new games that requires a massive gpu. i play those small games like counter strike source which is probably the highest demand of gpu on my list.

most importantly i need a hdmi port and planning to stream to an 1080p hdtv for hours at a time without the gpu heating up (mainly for watching movies and some lite gaming). my friend told me his laptop shut down on him few times due to long streaming time & and gaming.

my question is when streaming to an 1080p hdtv does the resolution on the laptop have to be 1080p too to keep image quality? and does the length time of streaming to the hdtv affect the gpu at all?

im looking to get an asus laptop only and on budget.

thanks!

I would suggest taking a look at the ASUS G Series laptops, see if you can find one for a good price. I have the asus ASUS G53sw, which has full hd LED screen (1920x1080p), HDMI (with audio) output, 6gb ram, i7 quad core and geforce GTX 460 graphics card, which in my opinion is as close to the top cards as you can get, without the price tag and i got it for about £700

those have good price for the specs but they have bad reviews. too many consistent problems.

will the gpu over heat and shut off if i stream it too long to the tv?

hi, i have picked some of the best asus laptops in their categories here http://www.squidoo.com/asus-laptops-2012 you can check them out...i would say for casual gaming and especially for entertainment use such as what you explained...you should go for ASUS N53SV-EH71...I think the G series would be a bit too much for your taste...have fun!
