i got a problem... my friend just gave me a dead compaq presario 2700. first, i changed the motherboard, then hard drive. but nothing happen... the fan won't spin, the cd won't eject when i hit the eject button, the reading light doing nothing... i already plug it at the outlet... but still i didn't change the processor.... if the problem is CPU, why the fan wont spin and the cds doesn't eject... do you have any idea what's the problem??? pls help me here

I had something similar happen to me before you have three choice
(a)get new computer
(b)get new cd drive and processor
(c) or use the method i used kick the machine very hard
when i did this i heard a little jangle and it started working again

Some people really will consider those options when in a forum of such knowledgable people. Resulting in a damaged PC because they 'Kicked the machine very hard' .

It obviously sounds like a power supply issue, maybe the battery is ruined.

I am just waiting for the day someone says I kicked the computer and it did not fix it. I am going to laugh my head off.
