we have broadband connection adsl modem d link and have bought a adsl d link router and wish to share broadband connection with another desktop and a laptop in our house
sorry i probably seem too thick but does that mean i have to buy another router to get all three to work the guy at the shop said we have to buy a router and a wireless pc card for old desktop i already have a wireless pc card in my laptop would this be correct
Where "--->" is ethernet cable. But, you said something about wireless and how the guy said you need a wifi (wireless) card for your desktop. If the router you purchased already has wifi built in, then the laptop wont need an ethernet cable to connect to the internet, but the two desktops still do. If the router doesnt have wifi built into it. Then you are going to need to purchase a wifi card (pci) to put into one of the computers so it will be like this.
Code:
Internet--->Modem--->Router--->computer
--->computer(with a wifi card)--->laptop
I hope you understand, you didnt really give me enough info to go on. Please post back if you need more help (or if I got something wrong).
