Help me identify this old pirate game =]

I used to play it around 10 years ago... It was on windows, and you recruit pirates and mercenaries and it was turn based, I can't remember much more other than you were facing the british (I think, cant be too sure) and when you found treasure it was marked with an X, and you had to dig for it in one of the squares around the X, not the X itself, oh right, the game was grid based.

Also, what are some really fun games you remember from many years ago? I've been reliving the old days with the classics like Commander Keen and Dungeon Keeper!
 
ateroids, tnt, wolf, agent, duke nuke'em, caves, spears, pacman and galaxian.
maybe 25 yrs ago. still have em. many were old bar arcade games.

the newest game i have was Doom.........didn't want to forget that. all the rest a lot older.

Colonization? That is 11 years ago, I'm not sure though, I played it for like 10 minutes and gave up XD.

You couldnt play as pirates in Colonization lol. Actually Pirates didnt exist... Awesome game though one of my favourites..

Another really reallly old one... Defender Of The Crown lol. awesome.
 
Old thread, but I forgot about it =p I've played fallout3 but I've heard so many good things about fallout1 and fallout2, I really will have to try them.
