Hi all.

Just new to this site (and computers) and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction without laughing at me too much.

My system is reasonably old;

HP Pavilion Notebook ze4315
30GB HDD
256MB Ram
Celeron 2.2GHz CPU

Just need to know if it is possible to put an internal HDD into my laptop that is of a different brand to that of the laptop, i.e. I am looking at putting a Samsung or Maxtor drive into the space. Will this work???

I would also like to upgrade my memory a bit, currently have 256MB DDR PC2100 266 CL2 and I am looking at adding a 512MB DDR PC2700 333 CL2.5. Will this improve the system or will it stay remain at the original specs (256) (I want to have both sticks of ram in at the same time)?

Cheers for your help.

P.S. Sorry if this is painstakingly simple to you all.

1. Companies like HP ususally use hard drives from samsung or maxtor

2. Adding ram would improve performance, but you have to make sure you have enough slots

O.K U can use IBM hard drive too. Here are some site u can find all the accessories like hdd. http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/

After that u can look at this site, it can scan ur laptop and recommend the max for upgrading ur ram. No software install need for scanning. http://www.crucial.com/uk/

U also need to go to www.hp.com site to get infor on ur computer. HP have manual on ur laptop which u can download. It have a lot of infor on any hp laptop and computer. There are also hp forum on there website which u can asked question. I hope this little infor help u.

It's possible to add an internal HDD on a notebook, but probably not a wise choice. Taking it apart and what not.

I'd recommend an externall HDD instead. Memory will definitely boost the perfomance compared to what you have currently
