Help me narrow down to a cpu....

yea.. well you went with AGP and thats going to COST more than its worth... AGP cards, for the performance that they give, cost more.
a 6600gt AGP will cost more than a 6600gt PCI-e

The ECS board is also an AGP model. The Asus just offers more there. But PCI-Express is the "in" thing now with the demise of AGP not coming all that soon however. For gaming machines the 16x along with SLI and Crossfire are a "dream come true" due to the faster acceleration and support for more intense and realistic graphics. The AGP hangs on for the once in awhile gamer with more interest in browsing and checking the mail.

thats what i meant, i was talking about the board he bought not the board you suggested...
anyways, it'll be a good system...
the reason i suggested you get 939 socket was because its upgradable and supports dual channel.
you bought a board with AGP, meaning its not upgradable... lol
the whole 939 socket will let you do dual channel, and upgrade the proc, but it'll never be upgradable in a year or two...
you'll be buying a new motherboard in two years lol

I think this one would be better. Its by a known brand, and plus the integrated might be able to run CNC. You can always get a GPU if you need to.

Thanks, CNC Generals only requires Radeon 7000 or GeForce 2, so most will handle it at a decent framerate..... I think I'm going to save for a bit and grab a s939 setup

There's nothing wrong with going S939 with the basic equipment until you are in a position to go for some high end stuff. I've seen quite a few run most of these games running with only a 128mb video card. That was with AGP not PCI-E there. You could run with a pci-e 128mb for the immediate allowing for later expansion for the higher end.
