Help me OC my Amd Athlon x2 64 3800+

I don't know the first thing about OC'n and my general computer knowledge is only slightly above average. Any help with OC'n my CPU would be appreciated but like I said I have no idea where to start. Is this something I will be able to do on my own with of course your guys help?

Anyways like I said I'm using a AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ CPU
on Windows Media Center.

Have you tried booting in to the BIOS yet? Usually with retail computers you can't access a lot of the settings you need to in order to overclock. I wouldn't recommend overclocking a retail computer anyway.
 
I got up to 2.35 Ghz and my registry got screwed up. I had to clock down and reinstall. I'm now running at 2.2 Ghz with no problems.

Anyway, its under the BIOS under "Core Frequency" (or at least in my BIOS it is).
 
It would be under frequency/voltage control. Don't overclock if you don't know what your doing, trust me you can really do some damage. When you increase the FSB you also have to increase the voltage in some cases, and if you have too little or too much voltage you can really mess things up. Like I said I would not recommend overclocking your CPU unless you really know what you are doing. Look online (Google, Youtube, etc.) for overclocking guides, I'm sure there are plenty out there, before you attempt anything.

Voyagerfan did you have to change anything else? It looks like we have the same CPU.
Or does that depend on other things as well?

Your motherboard, CPU, memory, core temperature, FSB, etc. all have to do with overclocking, which is why I say read up, before you try anything. It is possible to overheat a CPU after overclocking, especially with a stock cooler which I assume you have.

Yikes yeah I everything is stock on this comp. I've been debating on upgrading my vid card and PSU but I'm just not sure if its worth it or if I should buy a whole new computer. Just trying to get the most out of this one at the moment.

Yupp. Same CPU. Just be sure to do it slow. Go up by about .02 Ghz at a time as far as you feel will be good.
