Hi.

I want to overclock my cpu for the first time, and I wondered if some of you guys could link me a guide or something. Also what program should I use?

An extra question is: Can it really be truth that I'm only getting around 2k in cpu test in 3Dmark06? And only around 11k in the final 3Dmark score?(setup is in sig)

your lucky :) that motherboard is an excellent overclocker!

turn your computer off.
turn it on, and press "del" to enter bios.

find this screen.

what you want to do is raise the cpu host frequency.

dont raise it too much. say raise it 10. then save and exit. the computer will restart and boot into windows.
if you get to windows, great! looks like it was good.
now restart and raise it 10 more.
so on so forth until it doesnt boot to windows.
say you get a bsod or something. or windows hangs etc.

when that happens, write down the exact cpu host frequency you had last working.
go back to that and boot into windows. run prime95 or some other bench test.
leave it say 30 mins to ensure its good.

now go back to the bios and lower the multiplier.

change it to 8.
now start putting the cpu host frequency up again.

when you finally get a good overclock, come back and tell us how you get on.

you can still go further, but thats the basic steps to take.

remember to run coretemp in windows to monitor your temperature on the cpu.
make sure it doesnt go over say 55oC

remember, its calculated like this

cpu host frequency = 333
cpu multiplier = 9

333 x 9 = 2997 (2.97ghz)
366 x 9 = 3294 (3.29ghz)

374 x 8 = 2997 (2.97ghz)

and so on... people say the lower the multiplier the better, but its not essential.
dont go too high. id say when you hit a good solid 3.6ghz

say 400 x 9 = 4000 (4ghz)
or 500 x 8 = 4000 (ghz)

422 x 9 = 3.8ghz

dont go much further. and always check your temps and bench mark it for stability.

u should be getting way more than 11K an 2K CPU.
i mean my CPU gets 2461 an my final score is 10559 an your computer is better than mine by more than 400 points.
make sure your settings are at default
