Hi
i need help picking a cpu cooler
im using a i7 970 overclocked to 4ghz, onstock fan runing 1600 rpm, can go up to 2600 but it is noisy above 1600

the temp is around 30-40 with less program runing, when i open a webpage with lots flash runing the temp went up to 50-60, which seens fine
last night i left on because im downloading something, wen i woke up in the monring i relize my pc is in sleepmode (i set overheat protection when reach 90c to sleepmode ( ROOM temperature is below 10c)

so im thinking about the h50
but i read many reviews and people recommand using high end air coolers instead of the h50, they never mention which one. I want a quiet one
my mobo is dx58so
also is my cpu gain heat easily comparing to other cpus? how did it reach 90c while im sleeping -_-"

I'm watching this thread too as i have a stock fan and want something better but I don't know if i want to unload tons of cash into a liquid setup. I have found a couple items that catch my eye

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242001 (Seems like a good one but you have to buy a fan or 2 after)

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5690079&CatId=493 (not sure how well this one works don't see alot of reviews but it looks cool ;) )

I have not decided yet but I tend to look at what other people have bought and read the reviews. Hope this helps a little :)

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX25192(ME).aspx ( Was reading some of the other post's and this one for the price seems like a very good cooler too. Nothing fancy but cheap and works well)

I personally have the last one Hyper 212+. Works phenomenally good. I am going to however buy the Corsair H100 in the future, just to get that little extra.

This one : http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...6022&CatId=493 i would not recommend. I have heard bad reviews on the fan, and when the fan goes, apparently you have to replace the entire cooler. I have also read about bad cool reviews.

The CoolMaster V8 peaked my interest before i got the Hyper. I researched it, and seemed to be a well performing cooler, however did not perform in a wide range like the Hyper.

I have learned that the "cool" looking coolers aren't always the best. Simplicity is sometimes better.
