Hey everyone,

my pc specs are:
ASUS A7N8X E-Deluxe mobo
1gig of ddr 400
AMD Athlon 3200+ processor
500 gig western digital SATA hdd
BFG GFORCE 7800GS OC
500 watt power supply

Ok my problem is every game I try to play lags. But its a weird lag. When im playing this game theres like this glitch that goes across the screen and it makes my games lag. Why? I have the latest motherboard and video card drivers. Whats really weird is it deosnt matter what the graphics or set on or the display. It will do it on 600/800 or 1280/1024. To give u an idea of what games i play that i have more than enough to play them is GUN, Tony Hawks Underground 2, Madden 06, Call of Duty, Medal of honor AA, Nascar Sim Racing, etc. My computer got more than the recommended requirements why deos it do it? Any help will be more than appriciated..... thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Thanks,
Colby

Hey Yue,

Yes the video card is factory overclocked. And I dont think its overheating but I could be wrong it runs around 53-55 degrees celsius when being pushed really hard for hours.
I dont know if thats too hot or not. Thank you again for any information u have ahead of time and thank you for ur quick reply.

Thanks Yue,
Colby

Hey Blacklabelrum,

I already have. I ran memtest for like 10-12 hours and its come clean every time. Im lost here lol. Thanks again ahead of time for yalls help.

well, when i had a 7800gt it ran about 60 under load, so the temp seems fine. Can you get a screenshot of the problem? when did it start?

ok well it's a long story so here it goes,

I've had this Asus A7N8X E-Deluxe motherboard for a while. When I bought the board I was running an AMD Athlon 2400+ with 512 megs of ram, with a GForce TI 4800 se graphics card and western digital 80 gig hdd. I bought the AMD 3200+ Athlon XP and the 1gig of ddr 400 and the GForce 7800gs oc and the 500 gig western digital hdd. My problems really was bad when I put this new processor 3200+ in this motherboard. When I installed this new processor all my games would crash right back to the desktop just like I exited them myself with no sign of an error. So I ask around and searched the net and this guy on some forum told me that the Asus A7N8X E-Deluxe had problems reconizing the processor itself....what I mean by that is everything in bios was set to auto so I had to manually config it and tell it what I had in it. I got the settings from that dude off the forums so I still dont know if my bios settings are correct. Here I will give them to you maybee yall know something about them. First I do have the latest bios update from the ASUS website. Heres the settings....
CPU Ext Frequency = 200MHz
CPU Frequency Multiplier Setting = Menu
CPU Frequency Multiplier = 11.0x
System Performance = User Defined
CPU Interface = Optimal (Greyed out, not able to change)
Memory Frequency = 100% (vs auto, which produces errors)
Memory Timings = User Defined (vs auto..again, errors)
SDRAM Active Precharge Delay = 6
SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay = 3
SDRAM RAS Precharge Delay = 3
SDRAM CAS Latency = 2.5T
FSB Spread Spectrum = Disabled
AGP Spread Spectrum = Disabled
CPU Vcore Setting = Menu
CPU Vcore = 1.650V (which is the default)
Graphics Aperature = 128MB
AGP Frequency = 66MHz (Not Auto)
System BIOS Cacheable = Disabled
Video RAM Cacheable = Disabled
DDR Refrence Voltage = 2.7V(Not auto)
AGP VDDQ Voltage = 1.6V (Not 1.5V default)
AGP 8X Support = Enabled
AGP Fast Write = Enabled

Couple of other adjustments made are these:

In the Integrated Peripherals Menu I switched the Primary VGA BIOS to AGP instead of the default PCI.

I also turned off Q-Fan Control in the Hardware Monitor Menu.

Im not sure if thats correct or not but it deos keep my games from crashing back to the desktop or crashing at all. So it did do something good I guess lol. As far as my processor and the inside of my case geos for tempature....my processor runs around 135-140 degrees farenheit and the inside of my case stays around 80-85 degrees farenheit. O yea dont know if this matters or not but im running a creative sound blaster live 5.1 sound card with the latest drivers from there website. Well thats all I can think to tell ya. Thanks again for any information in adavance again.

whoa, well acording to this:

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K7/AMD-Athlon XP 3200+ - AXDA3200DKV4E.html

Check down under Electrical/Thermal parameters

and the max temp is 85°C Looks like ur CPU is overheating. you say its 80-85, is that under load or idle? if it is idle then underload is gonna hit at least 95.

Check that the CPU fan is seated properly and u have used some kind of thermal compound. Also if the inside of the box is dusty, give it a full clean.

thank yall so much for the quick replys. BUT My processor is running at 135-140 degrees FARENHEIT. 85 degrees celsius is 185 degrees farenheit. So I think it might be another problem...any suggestions? And yes thats with me playing games for hours. If its idle it runs around 110-115.

135F would be 57C, so it is running a bit hot. It should be running under load no more than 49C and at idle around 39c or even lower. But even so 57c would not kill your CPU.

85F = 29.5c

It sounds to me like you are having a driver issue with your video card.

I didnt think so and also do u know any good drivers for a 7800gs oc its made by BFG the newest drivers on nvidias website just dont work to good for my pc. And how would you go about installing and uninstalling the drivers.....thanks

After doing some more research on your board, it leads me to believe that your motherboard should have been able to use that 3200+ processor natively. When you installed the new chip, did you clear your cmos?

I know you set all those settings manually, but I have never heard of doing it the way you did it and turn out very stable.

This is your board right?
http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=1&model=217&l1=3&l2=13&l3=56

Then this is your manual,
http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/nforce2/a7n8x-e/e1876_a7n8x-e_deluxe.pdf

Then it sounds to me you were supposed to set some jumpers to make it work with your CPU. Not make changes in your bio's.

Give that manual a read. Be patient, it will take a while to download.

yes that is my board and the only jumper my motherboard has on it is to set it to 400 mhz fsb. I got it set too 400 because my processor runs at it. Everything in that department is great. If you search even more people has had problems with this processor and motherboard. I think the problem is that this processor is the biggest on that the motherboard can hold. I understand that the website and the box when I bought it said it could run it but it will not with everything set to auto. And I dont know how to fix it....thanks for the quick reply.

P.S. I know that u can set your bios manually IF you know what voltage and speed everything needs to be at. If you know anything about overclocking then its best to tell ur motherboard what to do so theres nothing special about getting it to run stable manually setting ur bios I just personally dont know how lol.
