Help Me Please

So i built a new comp To play cs and other games on... also to have a desktop comp and not be confined to a laptop all the time... it works great for about 20 min but then the comp shuts down... everything is off except for the green power led... i thought it was because of over heating... but its a mini tower and i have an intake and exhaust fan, + cpu heatsink and fan...

The cpu runs at like 42C... so im prty sure that its not over heating...
My buddy sugest that i dotn ahvethe motherboard shimed properly on the case...

Can some one please help me figure out what my problem is?
 
Not much you can do to repair a PSU - you'll need to replace it. What are your system specs, and what PSU do you have now?
 
its a 400-W power supply... No name on Tiger of what brand it is... it came with my case ... a MicroFly

pentium D 3.2
512 ram that my buddy got me from his work {best buy}
n-vidia 128 vidio card out of the last comp
the motherboard came with the case too.. im forgetting what it is, but its not bad

I had to go for everyting super cheep cos i dont have that much money... (it all came out to like 320 after shipping)

my laptop had the c2d, gig of ram(soon to be 2 :] ) so i didnt need this to be realy good... good enough for CS and thats it realy :)
 
If it's from a MicroFly it'll be an Ultra V-Series. Not a great PSU, but nowhere near as bad as the usual generic units found in most cases (rated for +12V@20A). Should be sufficient for your system, but do you know what video card you have (i.e. model)? Probably just a defective unit.

The MicroFly should take a standard size ATX PSU, so you could easily replace it, or you could try for an RMA with Ultra.
 
So it could be my Video card too?... im not sure what one it is, its been a while... i got it a while ago for my last comp and havent had problems with it before... i know its a nVidea tho
 
It is possible that the GPU itself is overheating, and you may want to take a look in the display driver to see what temperatures it's reporting. I was asking more to ascertain your exact power requirements, though.
 
if you have two sticks of ram in your computer try taking one out and seeing it if freezes, the if it does still freeze, then swap the sticks
I'd just suggest that because you can try that for free (if you have 2x256mb sticks)
 
yah could be pés or video card... my computer use to hvae same symptions... and the video card was going...just try to fix each one by one and see what fixes it will tell you..
