i have 2 512 mb of ram installed on my laptop... but it only shows 768mb... can any one tell me where the rest are(232) ram went???
and is there anyway to free it?

Do you think you're system is sharing 256MB for your video card? You could try removing one stick and see if you're still lacking the same amount

yeah i have a 256 mb shared video card ATI XPRESS 1100 video cardd... but is there anyway to free or no? coz i had 512 mb of mem before but i just bought another 512 today

Well pop the new 512 out and see how much registers. Unless it's got hypermemory or something(with both dedicated and shared) it should always be gone.

that other 256 is for your video card, you can have it allocate less to video in your BIOS

You have 1024MB (1GB) of RAM. You're video card uses 256MB of the RAM, so 1024 - 256 = 768MB.

The reason you only have 768MB of RAM showing up is because the video card automatically takes 256MB of that and sets it aside for itself. You should be able to set how much is set aside for the video card in the BIOS.
