Help Me Sort Out My Temps!

This is really, really annoying me!

As you can see in the pictures in my sig, the computer is rather close to the wall, so I moved it away from the wall and further along my desk, so that the hot air has somewhere to go from the rear exhuast fan, so far, it's been Ok, I know idle at 32/33 instead of 34c and load at 51/50c instead of 52.

I feel my idle temps aren't as low as they should be, and my load temps are way too high!

As some of you know, I've applied AC5 more than once in a bid to get these temps right! The first time I put a blob in the middle and I think I put too much on because they were too high, the next time I put some on and then spread it around with a credit card, which seemed a good idea, but the results aren't that great. Should I re-apply it, like put a thin line down the middle, apparently that's the best way...

Also, looking at this, does this sound right;

Front Fan - Intake
Two Side Fans - Intake
Rear Fan - Exhuast

Do you think I should make the top side fan in exhuast?

Any help would be greatly apprciated! :)

Looking at your pics you don't actually seem to have a top fan, did you mean the front top?

You'd probably benefit from creating a proper top exhaust fan, although your temps seem ok to me. I have 9 chasis fans and mine only runs 2 - 3C cooler than yours at idle. Never get anywhere near yours under load but that's probably because they're different chips altogether.

Have you got a temperature reading for your room? If your room temp is fairly high then you could be fighting a battle you'll never win.

Sorry, I mean the top fan, out of the two side fans.

So adding one to the top of my case? Wouldn't that just suck the air away from the front fan?

My load temps are well too high I think, I think they're only supposed to go up to something like 55-60c! :eek:

Apparently the temp in my room is about 22c, so my CPU temps could be lower! :(

Also, when just surfing the net I get like 37/38c :( :mad:

Have you allowed the burn-in time? There's a period where'll you get abnormally high temps that then settle down after a few days or so.
 
Yeah, it's been a while since I put it on, I think it's settled in, I think I'm going to re-re-apply it :P I'm going to use the line down the middle method.

Nah, I don't want to lap my CPU, maybe the Cooler, but I'll leave it, thanks.
 
I also heard that Intel TAT was made by a 3rd party and isn't accurate when reading the temperatures. Is Core Temp better?
 
Do you have your cooler mounted with the fan pointed toward the drive bays and the fins toward the rear exhaust fan, never mind I just saw your photo. If you have your fan control set to auto in the bios can you tell if the RPMs are kicking up with the temps?

TAT is made by Intel. Core Temp reads the same digital diodes as TAT, they should give you the same temperature, maybe +/- 1 degree.
 
Hmm. Those aren't terrible temperatures, maybe I'm just off a bit. My laptop stays at around 62C load, and my desktop about 60C. I've been running my desktop with F@H 24/7/almost 365 for a year and a half without any problems.
 
tbh dan those temps look fine to me,I doubt they will go any lower unless you go water cooling or someting:confused:

i wouldnt trust water cooling on my brand new system:D
immagine if it leaked:eek:

why dont you get one of those sensor bay thingys that displays your system temps on the front of your case?
that would look cool.
 
T'is a bit odd although you may just have a CPU that runs hotter than some, there may be a bead of something somewhere that causes the temperature to run higher than normal. But are you happy with that cooler? I'm looking at one when I get a new case to improve cooling and I don't want to risk any components with water cooling, or liquid cooling technically.

Oh right, TAT says 37c while Core Temp says 35/36c.

T'is a bit odd although you may just have a CPU that runs hotter than some, there may be a bead of something somewhere that causes the temperature to run higher than normal. But are you happy with that cooler? I'm looking at one when I get a new case to improve cooling and I don't want to risk any components with water cooling, or liquid cooling technically.

I think I may re-re-apply AC5 and use the line down the middle tenique this time... Yeah, it's a good cooler, I'm sure with proper AC5 applying it'd be great! :P
 
So it sits about 30-34c, that isn't bad, but if you try the recommended guide from the firm you're more likely to have better results.

I've always used the center dot method, because that's what I last saw on the AS5 site. Apparently it prevents any air bubbles from forming.
 
The AC web-site has different methods for different CPU's, The method for dual core CPU's is to put a thin line down the middle, where the actual CPU touches the outter metal thing :P If that makes sense.
 
Ah, I see. However, your dual core is just one physical 'core' with two cores in it, so it shouldn't make much of a difference? Acht, probably doesn't make any sense. :) Do what they say ;)
 
toe touching case while using as5 put a dot in the middle use thumb to spread it like butter on bread...


run prim95 or orthos with cpu fan set to 100% and leave it on 24/7 for 5 days....

burn in time! woot :D
