IF you get bored help me build the best gaming tower for $1000

Ok I love first person shooters. I built a computer for my dad awhile back. But have been away from what is good or not for gaming. Anyway I'm not afraid to build one just don't know what my best bang for the buck would be. I have a 24" monitor already gaming keyboard and mouse. I also have xp pro I can use. I just want the best tower for around 1000.00 I can get. Thanks for your help and time with this I figured you guys can help me out a lot! Thanks again.

It does look like that motherboard comes in several versions that will support AM2, AM2+, and AM3 sockets. I've found several other listings of that same model number showing DDR2 slots as well.

As for the one listed on NewEgg, that one (at least in the pictures and the spec listing) looks to be only a DDR3 capable board. In that case, it will only work with the AM3 CPUs since they have the DDR3 memory controller.

Hmmm I'll check into some of that! Thanks for the replies. You think amd is still better then intel then huh. I know it was when I built computers years back but I had thought that intel was the going thing now, but then again that's why I came to you guys for help in this forum. I do know I'm more comfortable with nvidea grahpics cards though. Any more info you guys want to throw my way let me know. I'm going to order off newegg in the next few days so I want to make the right decision and get the best bang for my buck. Thanks again with the knowledge and help!

honestly, intel is far ahead of anything AMD is capable of producing. but for the money? AMD does have a small (very small) advantage with budget processors.

Do you guys think this would be better for the couple hundred more dollers?

If you have the cash to shell out, its hard to go wrong with an i7 build, which is more or less unbeatable for now. At a glance, the components you have picked out look like good choices to me too, so if you can afford it, I'd go right ahead.

Not a bad alternative with the i7 build. The last time I priced out a similar i7 it was running roughly $1600-1700. Granted that was several months ago and with a Blu-Ray drive... Speaking of, the LG Blu-Ray/HD-DVD reader and DVD burner here is a great deal as well.

Ok one last stupid question? I was told that if I run Windows XP 32bit I won't recognize all the ram? Is there something to this or is this person miss informing me? Also I'm guessing I'm going to see a big difference with this system from the one I'm running now which is a amd athlon
3200+ asus a8n-sli deluxe board with a nvidia 7900 gtx video card. I'm hoping its going to be night and day difference. Any way thanks for all the quick help guys!!!!

Your informant was corrrect. You need 64-bit OS to utilize more than 3gb ram. (well 3.25 or something like that)
And yes the difference should be HUGE ;)

Both statements are true. 32bit Operating Systems will only recognize up
to 4Gigs of RAM.

And, you will notice a significant difference in performance with an i7
Quad Core with Hyperthreading, which enables each core to run a
"virtual" core, so in essence, they run with 8 cores. =D

Ok then I guess the next question is XP 64 bit or Vista 64 bit or are all Vista's 64bit? And where is the best price for the one that I should buy? Thanks for your time again guys you are very helpfull.
