The updates depend on what you intend to do with your comp... In anycase, I think you should definetely update the RAM and the video card. ;)

Ouch...well, there's not much you can do there. You could try ebay for some more RAM or a new processor(should be Socket 423 or 478) If you have an AGP slot, about any AGP card should work in the system, but your CPU and RAM will be a major bottleneck. My suggestion; save up and just get a new PC when you can afford it. There's really no point in upgrading this system unless you're practically given the components as next to nothing could be used later on.

if you want to do anything as far as games are concerned you should probably just buy or build a new computer, your upgrading options are pretty limited with that set of components.

I will build a New PC. (on a budget)
I will keep this one like it is and sell it.

What type of processor can I buy.
I don't need it to be that great, I'm not a gamer.
I do need it to be able to take 1gb ram sticks.

What is the first step in builiding a computer.
1. Processor (CPU)
or
2.Motherboard

Let me know, thanks

To build my new pc. I found this deal on Newegg.

Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSHN2 Socket 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Venice 2.2GHz Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3400DAA4BY - OEM

Both for $96. with shipping

Now what RAM can I add to this, will 1 gb stick fit

Let me know Thanks

updating prebuilt pcs like hp or dell is a huge pain in the glute. they probably purposely make it so you cant upgrade so they can suck out our brains with bendy straws. build a new computer and sell ur current one or salvage parts from your current one such as ur hdd and sell the rest of the parts from your current one to dell users with broken parts
