So, I ran into a very terrible problem a few minutes ago. I turned on my computer and LCD, which is a Chimei 22". It booted fine and everything but once it got to the screen where it has the scrolling windows bar, the monitor lost the signal. I found out how to fix it but I have to unplug the DVI cable and plug it back in.
I then realized that the resolution of the monitor itself had dropped down to 1024x768 and I can't change it. I was running it at 1680x1050 or whatever that resolution is.
When the computer first starts up with the LCD on, the monitor itself says it is at 1680x1050. It seems once it loads the driver for the video card, it knocks it down to 1024x768.
Is this a problem with the monitor or my video card? Both of which are barely 2 months old.
I really hope I don't have to send some stuff back.
If I can't figure out the root of this problem, I'm gonna buy a cheap video card from New Egg and see if that fixes it.
