my computer will not turn on and it is plugged in... im using a differant computer right now though... could it be because of a virus??? someone please help
 
Hardware problem, I doubt it's viruses(unless you actually get something on the screen when you powre it up) My first thought is probably a power supply, maybe RAM. You could even just have a dead motherboard... Lots of things could be wrong, unfortunetly.
 
Best method for TSing is by removing the MB, placing it on a flat, INSULATED surface and connect the bare minimum to get it started.

If you have two mem mods, use one. If it don't work, swap em out.

If you think it is power, connect a new PSU.

If you eliminate all possabilities except the MB and CPU...well your in a bind...

Don't forget to use an ESD Strap.
 
Yeah, I just had a mobo go bad. Same situation. It wouldnt power on period. BAD MOBO . Went out bought a new upgraded board and turnd right now...
 
I would first check the outlet for power, then I would check the case power switch. If both are ok then invest in a power supply because if it is the mobo then you are going to want to replace the power supply anyway. It might be the 20 pin mobo supply cable came loose from the board, but you have to start with the obvious things first. Don't forget to make sure that the switch on the power supply is on. Maybe it may have been accidently turn off. Good luck!
