HELP! My backlight does not work!

I turn on my laptop today and see a big blank of black. I can see the lcd if I shine a light on it but it barely helps.

Ive read that it may be the inverter inside of the laptop and it may have to be replaced.
I really need to get this fixed soon!

The laptop is a HP ZE5300 2.53GHZ and 704mb of ram
