Hey guys,
I've been having a lot of problems with my computer so I finally decided to just delete the hard drive and reload windows xp pro. Unfortunately, I am having the same exact problem that I was having before and that is the computer restarts constantly. It usually wants to restart when I load on new software, but it is all virus free software such as my microsoft finger reader driver, windows service pack 2, and aol. During the install, the computer just shuts down with no warning and then restarts. It happens everytime also so i cannot load these drivers. Does someone know what could be causing this?
Thanks,
Mike

How often between restarts? What are you/the machine doing when it restarts? is it at random, or can you time the restarts?

Im not sure what power supply is in the computer, but it restarts constantly. It probably restarts every few minutes. It will restart by itself, or when I am doing something on it. I have no idea what triggers the restart, but it is constantly restarting. I tried replying to this message a few minutes ago and it just restarted. I have no idea what would cause this.

Is it possible to be the CPU to be overheating, becuase the computer can be off for hours, you turn it on and a minute later it would shut down. I just didn't think that was enough time to overheat the CPU. Anyway, is there a certain way of testing what is going wrong out?

Actually, if the heatsink/fan isn't working properly, it doesn't take more than about 40 seconds for that processor to overheat.
