Help needed finding parts for build

Hi all, I'll be honest I don't know a lot about the parts or putting together a computer, but I plan on doing it within the next few weeks. I was hoping someone would help me put together a list of all the parts I need because I'm clueless. I have watched videos and think I could figure out putting it together, but I have no idea what parts would be the best. Basically I know nothing when it comes down to what I should be buying. Im trying to do this ASAP because I don't have a computer and building one seems to be the best way to go by far.

My budget would be around 1000$ I can go over but I want to spend the least for what I need. Money's not much of an issue if it's necessary to go over.

Main use would be to play MMO's, specifically SWTOR on max graphics smoothly. I also would want to be able to watch movies on my monitor and connect my desktop to my tv via hdmi. Internet ,Burn CDs, listen to music, watch movies, play games...

I have a monitor 23" LCD hanspree already let me know if any more info is needed, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Handily I already have a $1000 USD build in my Newegg list. :)

AMD FX-8320 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128509
8GB RipJaws-X 1866MHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231455

ASUS GTX 770 2GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121770

Corsair Carbide 300R http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139011
Corsair CX600M http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139048
ASUS DVD-RW http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204
Seagate 1TB HDD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840

That lot comes to $997 and is a great gaming rig for the money. :good:

The only thing I would add if you are prepared to go over is an SSD to install Windows onto. A good 120GB one is $135 or so http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W00ZD1548 it's not required but I would recommend buying one if you can, just to speed Windows and your programs up a bit.

You could maybe get some aftermarket cooling for your CPU too so you can overclock it and get extra performance. This cooler is only $35 and is good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

If need be, you could downgrade the UD5 motherboard to a UD3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514) in order to save some money to put towards the aftermarket cooling.

So all of that would be all I need to put a desktop together and have it running lol? Is there another motherboard you could recommend with an HDMI port? Going over $1000 isn't a big deal I just want to make sure it plays MMO's like SWTOR on max perfectly since that is the game I'll be spending most of my time playing hah. Thanks helping

The 770 has a HDMI output and will play any MMO etc at max on a 23" monitor no worries (assuming its 1080p). You'll get around 80FPS at 1080p on that monitor if 1080p. Even at 5760 x 1080 you're likely to get +50FPS maxed out so yeah, you'll be fine. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/revie...lit-and-zotac-star-wars-the-old-republic.html

If you want more performance, add $500 and we can build you an intel based machine, but really what Spirit has built is pretty good.

I agree, but you could get a 840 Evo and the CM 212 Evo for the price of the Pro. And the only difference is how many writes it can take, which is not so important if it's just for OS.
I even think (think) the Evo is better in terms of its controller.

I'll spend the extra for the better hard drive and processor. I'll probably end up playing other games too if the computer can support it and since it'll be my only desktop for awhile I don't mind going over. Could you guys give me links to the parts you'd recommend I'm trying to put a list together right now, there's a few different answers so I'm not sure which to go with. I don't want to be cheap anywhere if it means I'd be giving up on some performance. Thanks

I know I didn't ask this earlier but I was just thinking about games like battlefield 4, how do you think it would play a game like that? Sorry I'm using my sisters iPad so I only get on the internet a couple times a day at the moment making it harder to find everything I want.

Also I have three other questions I thought up today. What exactly do sound cards do, improve the sound quality? Would it be worth it to get one(I have two Logitech speakers and a subwoofer)? Which OS should I go with? And lastly I hear intel is a better gaming processor than amd, I was thinking maybe I'd spend a little extra on one of those, what do you think about that and could you recommend one?

Thanks for the great help

any game will run awesome with a 770, and BF4 is no exception. Sound cards improve sound quality, yes. But I would only get one of you have spent over 50 bucks on your speakers. AMD CPUs are fine for gaming, the 8320 actually beats the i5 in BF4 and is similar in other games. Go with Windows 8 64 Bit. If you don't like the new start menu try Pokki or Classic Shell, but give the Metro start a couple weeks.

Well my speakers and subwoofer cost $120, but I got them a few years ago. And so everyone agrees the list made above + the SSD and cooler mentioned will make the nice build I'm looking for?

Yes, ASUS is one of the manufacturers who produce GTX 770 cards.

I would only bother with a sound card if you are really into sound quality. You would need to spend some good money on the sound card too probably. The money would be better spent on a CPU cooler and an SSD.

Alright awesome thanks, will this be everything I need then to start it up other than the OS? Do you think I should wait and see if there's any deals on cyber Monday, or should I just get it now? I'm tying to set it up ASAP but if you think there will be deals in a few weeks I guess it'd be smart to wait. Thanks again

Was googling around seeing what people were saying about cyber Monday deals and a lot of people seem to say that you should wait if it's soon. You don't think so or just for my particular build? Sorry for all the questions I just never bought anything on cyber Monday, but I hear there are some great deals.

I think last year Windows was 20 bucks off for Cyber Monday. And I dont know if i would wait 3 weeks for 20 bucks. Really Cyber Monday is cool but there is a 1 in a however many Newegg stuff there is you will get the stuff ypu need. And for the eound card, dont get one unless you have spent over 50 bucks on your speakers or headphones. Sound cards will only increase sound quality on nice speakers. Jason, i dont knowbif ibwould really call 40 bucks good money, no way can you get a decenltly sized ssd for that price. And yes, a good sound card can be gotten for $40.
