Hey guys.
I'm building my first computer and before I was using a totally useless motherboard (Asus P4S800), there's been so many bad comments of it being DoA. Well my first P4S800 was DoA, so was my second and so was my third. In the end, I just got fed up and got the Asus P4V8X-X. However, I remember that when I had my first P4S800, I had to return it because when I switched it on for the first time, the P4 fan came on when I would switch it on from the back of the PSU! Then the fan would slowly go off and I'd smell a burning sensation from the PSU.
I got a new PSU after that of course and I got this new P4V8X-X now too. However, when I plugged it in again, the exact same thing happened! I realised that this is my fault and not the components.
All I had plugged in was the 20-pin power connector, the 4-pin power connector for ATX boards and of course the heatsink. I didn't bother plugging any components in because I only wanted to test it to see if anything would come up.
Any help is greatly appreciated, I really need this PC up and running!
If anyone has any ideas, even if they are not definate, I'd still like to hear them.
Thanking you in advance,
Paren.
