Help needed to buy a new motherboard for an old computer

About 2 weeks ago, my power supply went out and fried my motherboard. I got the power supply first hoping that was all I needed to replace but as luck would have it, I did need a new motherboard. Since I don't know to much about motherboards, I was hoping I could get some help. I'm sure I'm going to get some laughs at this but it's for an Emachine. The model number is W2247 and here are the specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon™ XP Processor 2200+ (1.800GHz) with QuantiSpeed™ architecture
Operating System: Genuine Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
Monitor Bundle: eMachines® 17" eView™ 17s2 Monitor (16" Viewable, 0.27mm dot pitch)
Chipset: VIA KM 266
Memory: 128MB DDR (PC2100)
Hard Drive: 40GB HDD
Optical Drive: 48x Max. CD-RW Drive; 3.5" 1.44MB FDD
Video: S3 ProSavage8™ integrated (1 AGP slot available for upgrade)
Sound: AC '97 Audio
Network: 10/100Mbps built-in Ethernet
Modem: 56K ITU v.92-ready Fax/Modem
Peripherals: Standard Multi-Media Keyboard, 2-Button Wheel Mouse, Amplified Stereo Speakers
Ports/Other: 6 USB 2.0 ports (2 on front), 1 Serial, 1 Parallel, 2 PS/2, Audio In & Out, Mic-In & Head Phone jack on front, 3 PCI slots (2 available)
Dimensions: 7.25"W x 14.125"H x 16"D

I've upgraded the memory with 512MB DDR and I'm going to install XP Pro SP2 once I get the new motherboard. While doing some investigating, I read a forum where somebody recomended this motherboard:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=K7VM3&s=462

I've only really been able to find this one refurbished (I found a new one but the site is really shady to me...) and I was hoping I didn't have to go that route. Since this is my first time replacing a motherboard, I was hoping I could get everything I needed in the box.

Any recomendations you would have would be greatly appreciated. If you need to know anything else about my computer, let me know.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's about the kind of response I expected.... Anyways, I don't want to to spend money I don't have to on a new computer. I know it's outdated but it does everything I need it to do. Once the programs I run need a faster machine, then I'll get one but until then, I'm just looking to keep this one going. I'm not a gamer and the programs I use don't need a ton of speed. Everything was running just fine on what I had, it's just the power supply screwed things up.

Oh, and thanks for the help! and thanks even more for being the first person to give a one liner, stupid reply in my thread..... :D

Come on man. What do you expect with a computer like that. There isnt much point in replacing some components, you need an entire new system. If you dont need a computer for anything but basic operations or dont want to spend the money then that is fine.

I heard bad things about XP SP2 and you can go on Newegg.com and find a motherboard that will do as a replacement for you system.

Bad things about sp2? I know if your not using SP2 then you are asking for trouble. There were and are tons of security problems with SP1.

Newegg still has a PC Chips Socket A but its not got onboard video

I don't have a problem buying a video card but I do have one question (and it's probably really stupid....). I was hoping to still use the 128MB DDR (PC2100) SDRAM that it came with originally and the 512MB DDR (PC2100) SDRAM that I added to it. Would I be able to do it? From what the specs say on newegg about the motherboard, it doesn't seem like I'll be able to but I wanted to check....

Thanks!

Yes it will run PC2100/DDR266
2 x 184-pin DIMM sockets support two 2.5V DDRAMs (DDR400/333/266/200)

Arg.... So now I've given up on trying to find a replacement motherboard that'll work with my CPU and my memory. Now, I'm looking for a motherboard/CPU combo..... that'll work with my PC2100/DDR 266's. I'll take any suggestions but price is kind of an issue. I'm only really looking to spend no more than $70 but if it's a good deal and only a few dollars extra, then I'll go for it.

I haven't done to much looking around but here is something that I found fairly quick:

Thanks StrangleHold for your help thus far, I really appreciate it!

Thanks everybody for being really helpful with my computer troubles, I really appreciate it!

Here is a new set up that I came up with, let me know if you think this would work or not:

Motherboard/VGA combo:

And once again, I'd like to be using my old memory but please let me know if it won't work! The specs are in one of my replys earlier in the thread.

Also, I bought a new power supply since that was what caused all this trouble. Here's a link to the power supply:

Once again, thanks to all of you for helping out a newbie!
