i have an amd athlon 7750 2.7 dual core processor with a nvidia geforce 8400 gs graphics card. and 2g of ddr2 ram. im on a tight budget lol. i have rivatuner for tweaking but really need help with my settings. my global 3d settings are all over the place. eg. antialiasing, mip maps, texture clamp, texture filtering settings etc. after my son had been messing with things he shouldnt.. Games crash, run slow, look terrible and i really want to restore my computer back to how it was. i have no good restore points on my computer at the moment. Also some settings in control pannel-system and maintenance-performance information and tools-adjust visual effects have been messed with to. The computer was fine when it was sold to me it was overclocked perfectly and playing grand theft auto 4, call of duty 4, crysis etc really crisp with quality performance suprisingly. also i have no idea whether rivatuner overrides nvidia settings or not. any help will be much appreciated . maybe sum1 is familiar with my system.
regards dan...

what opsys are you using, and what SP level?

2 thoughts:
1. In Nvidia Control panel / 3D Settings / Manage 3D settings : click restore and see if that helps. It probably won't.

2. uninstall the Nvidia driver, re-boot, install a Nvidia driver - hopefully it will install with default settings.

Vista Black 2009? Isn't that a pirated version?
Problem solved, buy a retail copy and reformat.

OK

try suggestion 2 above.

also, look at (control panel / ) windows update and see if there's anything that needs to be installed. BACK UP before you install updates! I recomment an imaging software like Acronis TrueImage 2010.

LOL yeah, I was wondering what vista Black was. But in case it's legit, try updating it after you've backed it up.

EDIT: apparently it is legit. google for it. EDIT EDIT then again, maybe it's wares.....

i had it working fine with vista black, and i had no idea it was pirated. lol.

Are you talking about Vista Ultimate, which comes in Black Packaging?

Did you pay for it?

Hint:
Windows Operating Systems are not free. If you downloaded it for free from the internet, it is pirated, and hacked to prevent the need for a product key.

They also add in their own little "suite" of viruses and trojans so they can steal your financial information, and basically just diddle with your computer anytime they feel like it.

in a way this is true in a way it is not. Vista Black Edition can actually be activated with a legit key, but if you google around black edition basically contains tons of programs which you could legally provide a key for all them but more than likely not. and as far as adding trojans and stuff the only trojans most of the time you will find are inside the keygens that are in the iso, i bet you could install black, run every anti virus tool and only get virus reports from keygens that is it.
