Help Needed With Extracting Sound From Movies

Hello all :)

I have a question that needs answer, and I didn't know where to go. I googled "computer forum" and got here :)

So I have this short movie I (technically, a friend of mine) recorded with my little digital camera, a movie of my band. Problem is we need a sound file to use as a demo, and we don't have anywhere to record. So if it's possible I'd like to sort of extract just the music from our vid. Anyone know?

Thanks for the help :)

PS. Unfortunately I'm terrible when it comes to computers or any sort of technology for that matter, so if you have any questions please be precise, so I can understand ;D

think virtual dub should do it. I know your able to seperate audio from video using it so might be able to do what your after. The bonus is that its free :)

Yup vdub is the ideal way, another tool, if VDub cant do it (and there are tons of cases where Vdub cant), try TMPGEnc (even the demo). :)

Ok thanks a lot guys, only one more question: What is Virtual Dub? :) (as I said I know squat about computers) Where can I get it, how do I use it and so on... answer as many questions as your patience allows you to... I understand if you don't want to waste time though :D
