Help Needed

Hey everyone i really need your help. I need to reformat a hard drive so i can reinstall win 2000 on an oooold computer. The thing is that i downloaded a transformation pack, stupid i know, and the computer won't boot anymore. It goes to like the bios and then theres a black screen and then it restarts. really weird. i popped in the ME reinstall disk but when i clicked reformat and install, it did the same thing with the black screena nd then powering off. any suggestions? i really need help.
 
everything was working fine before i installed the transformation pack. i dont think it's the hardware.
 
That sounds like you could have botched the install too. Try downloading Gparted, make sure the hdd is wiped clean and then try to do the reinstall.

If that doesnt work, then your hard drive is fried. Just because it worked before does not mean its not bad now.
 
seems very wierd, its sounds like somthing that could be cured with a reformat/install, but not so in this case......


download and burn a copy of damn small linux. its only 50 meg and its a cd boot OS.

run this on that machine and see what happenes..... if Damn small runs fine then it might be a problem with the hard disk.

if you have the same problem when trying to run dsl then it could well be your power supply.


BTW does your computer get past POST or just the first bios bit?

Try resetting your bios. Why are you booting to a ME CD and not the 2000 disk? Boot to the 2000 CD, delete the partition, create a new one, format it, then try the install.
