Hi, having a problem with my cpu. I have a Conroe and a pentium 4. When i initially installed the conroe in my new rig there was no signal. I replaced it with the old 775 p4 and it booted and was fully functioning.

I rma'd the conroe and have just recieved it and replaced the p4, and again no signal, not even screen flicker.

It is an abit board and displays post code 9.0 which means "Complete µGuru initial processAWARD BIOS take over booting job."

Is it possible they sent me back the old processor, as i saw it had been used or tested before I recieved it? I know the other components are working as they work with the old processor.

Any input appreciated!!!

Thanks, Nick

Whats the motherboard model, Abit.... ?

What version of BIOS is it? It might need the BIOS updating.

Its an abit aw8 max, not sure about the bios, the one that was on the motherboard. So i should do this by using the old p4 then flashing bios?

Yeah deffo, get ur pc working, go on to Abits main site, download the latest BIOS, Install that and see what happens...

BIOS can be downloaded here.

Are you sure that mobo even works with C2D CPUs? I can`t find much info on that board but the only info ive seen say
the AW8-MAX comes with support for dual-core Pentium 4 processors
?

Does it even turn on? If it does, the CPU may match the socket but may have larger FSB than your mobo supports.
