Help Needeed! HDTV problem.

Hi people.

Just to let you know I'm new here. This is my first post so I would like to say hello to everyone.:)

I have a quite a problem which I'm trying to solve. Perhaps someone had this issue already and the question was answered.

So... Here is my problem.

I have a Dell Dimension 2.8Ghz, Pentium D with dual core. 2GB of RAM and 256MB Nvidia Video Card. I'm trying to connect this to a 46' Sony Bravia KDL-46S2000 LCD HDTV. This was a success via the VGA port. Everything looks fine, but here is the problem. When I play DVD's, they are blurry like nothing I've ever seen before. I realized that VGA is analog transfer. My HDTV has an HDMI output and my PC also has a DVI output. SO... I ordered a DVI to HDMI Monster cable to see if that is the problem. Well... sad part is that I still haven't received the cable. But I'm asking, do you guys think this is the problem?

Another issue is that while connected via VGA when you open up a browser that has white backround and black writing, you can see some parts of the pixels flickering/flashing or whatever you can call it. Very weird. Any experience with this problem?

Your help would be appreaciated.
 
the dvi will help alot, It will never look "great" compared to a PC monitor. I believe its just the difference in the size of the pixels, if you can get your TV to run the input in 1080I it might look better(mine did)... mines a 55", so the problems were even worse. If you have a widescreen, run it with the black bars if your video card won't do widescreen, stretch makes it worse too.

one example, if you watch a 320xwhatever video on a TV out, it looks really good, even though when you watch it on a PC monitor, it looks poor.

I'm pretty new to this HDTV world. The TV supports 720p and 1080i. Any idea how to change this settings? Shouldn't that be auto adjustable?

My resolution is set to 1360 x 768 at 60Hz. I think that is the highest resolution I can run. I just don't understand why the DVD's look blurry. I'm sure the DVD drive is almost as good as in DVD players. Dell support said that this might be due to VGA cable so I made some searches on the internet and it sounded like that could be the problem.

Also when I start DVD playback, the screen will not adjust automatically. The menu runs in 4:3. Then when I start the movie, it will go to widescreen. (Not full screen by the way.)

I'm sure the picture is not going to be ultimately bautiful, but I downloded some WMV HD clips and it looked pretty amazing.

You say you have the PC connected to the TV via the VGA port. What port are you using on the TV? Does this TV have a VGA port?

Yes it has a VGA port. As a matter of fact I received the DVI to HDMI cable yesterday and I installed it today. Very bad result. Image is completely overscaned all around and the desktop looks like a broken CRT monitor.:(

I don't know what to do?
