help networking printer

trying to get my dell 3100cn as a stand alone printer via my linksys wrt54g router.



On the printer

I changed the ip address settings to panel

I changed the ip address so that it is out of the dhcp range to 192.168.100.200

I then added the subnet mask and default gateway to match the router



I didn't do anything in the web linksys settings



I added the printer on my laptop with using the assigned ip address. I can't get anything to print. any suggestions?
 
Do you have the drivers installed or are you just doing straight IP printing? It may be better to actually just set it to DHCP, then in your router make it so that it always leases the same IP to the MAC address of the NIC on your printer.
