I just purchased DDR 512mb ram 3200
Company: Xsonic Universal

My computer is an Inter(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00 ghz.
Its an asus and about 2 years old

I have 512 and adding another 512.

The 512 I added, I didn't put it in properly the first time, and it got really hot and the computer didn't turn on.

When I put it in a computer but itself it beeps. I tried it on another computer by itself and it beeps too. The computer doesnt start, it just beeps

At the moment it has DDR400 in it. So is the one I baught compatible? Does it beep because its not compatible?

The store is closed down now So i wont be able to replce it, so what should I do. And does the memory still work even tho it makes the computer beep)

Double post taken care of.

Since you've tried the RAM in a few different systems with the same result it's safe to say it is dead. It is the same type as you already have and again, since you've tried it on it's own, you can be sure it's not a compatability issue with the RAM you already have.

I can't seem to find anything on xsonic universal and since the store has closed down you're pretty much stuck with it as there's no where to return it to.

The beeping means there's a problem. If you match the beep pattern to the table in the manual for your motherboard (look for bios beep codes) you can see what it means. Even without knowing the beep code it will be something memory related. I say this because of the pattern, you put the RAM in and it beeps.

When i first put it in, I accidently didn't put it in properly.
one side was slightly up and not locked properly.
The computer screen didnt turn on so i turned everythign off adnd checked it and it was extremely hot.
Did this fry it?

I don't think that fried it. I have done that many times and that hasn't done my RAM sticks any harm, you might be very unfortunate if that was the cause, it could very well be.

It may have, but I've done the same thing, it beeped at me so I checked the seating and noticed that the one side wasn't in all the way. I reseated it and it worked fine.

I have yet to experience a stick of RAM dying on me yet, and thank the almighty for that. I may be extremely fortunate or that dude can be extremely unlucky, I don't know. But the possibility is still there, not seating it properly may well have fried it. If it doesn't work in several systems then its fried.

Yes I imagine it's possible having it not seated fried it, but it's also entirely possible that the RAM was bad before it was installed improperly. Either way, I agree the RAM is dead.

If the RAM was dead on arival, you should be able to phone up the supplier and get it replaced. Otherwise, it is probably fired because it was not seated correctly. If you find the bios beep codes for your mobo, you will be able to find out what the beep is telling you.
