hey all, i need help OCing my cpu. im new to ocing, could anyone give their settings if they have a similar setup?
heres wat i got
m/b: crosshair
HSF: zalman 9500
ram: OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Rev2 2x1GB

i am not sure about setting cos i don't have one.
i would say just go until it is unstable or to hot.
i think u could get it to about 2.8GHz - 3.2GHz maby further if your lucky.

haha i dont fink 3.2, ive read abit about my chip and people cant even it stable at 3.0GHz
has anyone got a good guide/tutorial on the aspect of OC'ing?

I used to have an Athlon 4600+ x2. I could get it to around 2.6 -2.75 without increasing the voltage. You should be able to get to three I reckon.

About 2.6 is the max without bumping up the voltage if even then and somewhere between 2.7 and 2.8 is about the max for a X2 4600 really jumping the voltage. There still the old stepping and dont clock that well.

Had mine at 3ghz with 1.65v to CPU :O lol and watercooling!

But since I only use the PC now to look at emails and stuff I clocked it back to 2.6 @ 26ishC

EDIT: also mine is a 939 not a AM2 :/

ok i finally OC'ed my cpu and i got it to (below), also cpu-z displays my voltage as 1.328 but in the bios its 1.34375 anyone noe why? and if i make it 2.7GHz how much hotter would my idle and load be?
2.4GHz to 2.6GHz
FSB 217
multi x12
idle 38-42
load 49-52
voltage 1.34375

Have you bumped your Hypertransport back to X4 and kicked your memory back to 667, With your bus speed at 217mhz your hypertransport is running at 1085/2170 and the memory is probably around 435/870 MHZ. I,ve run them at 2.7 but it took 1.4 voltage to get there and does start heating up. About 2.6-2.65 is the most stable with a 4600 because it takes so much voltage to get any higher.

i clocked it agen to 2.7GHz, my bro changed the ram settings too, he changed to voltage to its limits, timing and mhz
FSB 225
multi x12
HT x5
voltage 1.38125
cpu-2700.bmp (674 KB)
memory-2700.bmp (674 KB)

---------------------------------
i re-did my OC'ing and went back to 2.6GHz but its on stock voltage :D rather have a cooler comp then a few Mhz
