Help!! Old Laptop - Cannot Login

Hi all,

New to this site so please forgive me if I have posted in the wrong location.

I have an old laptop from a previous job and its currently locked to Windows 7 Professional.

I cannot login as Im not an employee there (company collapsed) however they have given me the laptop.

I cannot access the laptop for anything, can someone help me out? How can I gain access?

P.s. I don't know admin password etc.

Do you just need some files?
If so, you can boot up Linux from a USB drive and pick up your files.
I'll recommend using Lubuntu.

I personally use "WinsetupfromUSB" to make the USB drive bootable. http://www.winsetupfromusb.com/downloads/

Place the Lubuntu ISO file under "Linux ISO"

No I'm more than happy to loose everything. I just want to use the laptop for general stuff.

I take it you don't have a recovery disk. The manufacture might still want to help you. On their site under support, you should be able to find somewhere you can type in your OEM license key.
That will give you access to download a recovery image. Problem is that you say it's an old computer. They might not support that model anymore.

If not, this is gonna be more problematic.

Maybe your computer has a recovery partition. If that's the case, this is an easy fix.
You can enter it by hitting F8 on the post screen. It might be a different key. It usually gives you the post options. like <F11-system recovery>
